Windsurfing got it's start in
1965 when two friends,
Hoyle Schweitzer and Jim Drake,
decided to combine two forms of water sports: sailing and
surfing. From this simple beginning the spectacular sport has
evolved into different specialities that include formula
windsurfing, slalom, freestyle and waves.
In the summer of 2005 I started
to give some private lessons using a small group of students
which served as a test bed for ideas that I had about teaching
the skills of windsurfing. As a result, this group of students
succeeded in reaching their goals, which for some of the
advanced, was sailing the waves: i.e. conquering Guincho.

Therefore,
to try and reach a fair number of
enthusiasts who find that they don't
live in Portugal nor have access to good
training facilities and resources, I am
trying to develop this site,
www.elisiario.com
to aid their efforts.
www.elisiario.com
aims to help enthusiasts of the
different styles reach their desired
levels of competence in whichever area
they choose. They can do this by
participating in workshops or clinics
that are directed toward improving the
particular skills that they want.
At this
site you will discover various facts,
techniques, training methods and, if you
wish, you can contact me to answer questions
or register for different activities
mentioned above and those that will be added
as the site evolves.
